Charlie Esposito
Charlie Esposito is a Brighton-based mixed media artist working between painting, textiles and sculpture. Much of Charlie's practice is driven by material, surface and media, and the physical act of making.
Her canvas sculpture works are visceral and instinctive: cut, sewn, burnt, torn, and rebuilt, with paint and unconventional materials poured, layered, and embedded. Surfaces resist, rupture, and react, transforming the canvas into an object where gesture, texture, and physical presence carry meaning.
In contrast, her Being Human collection is more deliberate and metaphorical, exploring emotional states and shared experience through symbolism, composition, and visual storytelling. While more representational in structure, these works retain her sensitivity to material, layered surfaces, and the traces of process. Across both bodies of work, making and undoing sit side by side, and abstraction and representation act as parallel languages for exploring what it feels like to be human.
