Teddy Salad
Teddy, born in East London in 1961, was a fishmonger until a serious illness in 2009 sparked an unexpected creative journey. During recovery walks along the beach, he began collecting driftwood and found objects—transforming them into joyful, folk-inspired artworks. His first show at Brighton Festival's Worcester Sauce Open House in 2017 was a hit, leading to exhibitions in London’s Brick Lane and the Bargehouse at Oxo Tower.
Teddy’s vibrant, recycled multimedia pieces have since gained fans across the UK and USA, where his modern take on Folk Art resonates deeply. In 2023, he was commissioned for a major work in Carmel, California, and is now a full-time artist. His upcoming show at the Fisher Theatre, curated by Nicholas Usherwood, showcases work infused with a lifetime of music, art, and subculture. As ceramicist Kate Malone says, Teddy’s art is “full of fun, character, and life.”
